The Birch Wing at Highline’s main campus in Burien, Washington is a $38 million, 75,000 square foot, three-story addition that includes a 27,000 square foot, state-of-the-art emergency department and a 21,500 square foot, 31-bed patient care unit for medical and cancer patients. A 27,000 square foot parking garage, flexibly designed for use as a future laboratory and radiology spaces, occupies the lower level. The emergency department contains 32 private exam/treatment rooms and two major trauma response rooms. The patient care unit has 21 private rooms and five semi-private rooms. PSF led the mechanical contracting services including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and critical plumbing systems.
