Tukwila Library
- Tukwila, WA
- Service client since 2015
The King County Library System’s new Tukwila Library is a 10,000 square foot facility that consists of a single-story plan-spec project. The need for the new facility came to a peak with the former facility being over 20 years old and was no longer able to provide the top-quality service to the community. PSF Mechanical was responsible for all plan and spec services for the new facility and worked closely with the architect to produce the best end product possible.
The new 10,000 square foot library includes a flexible common area for tutoring, studying, lectures, and performances that can evolve with the community’s needs. The library also has a “green” roof made of up heat-tolerant and drought-tolerant native plants that will help regulate the building temperature inside while preventing stormwater runoff outside by more than 60 percent. As the mechanical subcontractor, PSF installed the HVAC and plumbing systems, a geothermal ground loop system, and radiant floor piping. PSF also conducted startup, test and balance, and commissioning activities for the project.
